Course Description

The i4Geo Geospatial Science & Technology Series is a dynamic, hands-on workshop series designed to provide participants with advanced skills and practical knowledge across a broad spectrum of geospatial analyses and applications. All modules can be taken in a ‘watch and learn’ style, however some also offer the option to bring your own laptop and follow along with exercises, provided necessary software and files are preloaded.

The Google Earth Engine (GEE) workshop is a part of the i4Geo Geospatial Science & Technology Series, designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of GEE, a powerful cloud-based platform for geospatial analysis. Attendees will learn how to navigate the GEE interface, work with Landsat and Sentinel-2 imagery, and perform essential image processing techniques. Topics covered include image retrieval, visualization, cloud masking, and computing vegetation indices like NDVI.

Course Outline

The following topics will be presented and discussed:

  • Introduction to Google Earth Engine
  • Basic Image Retrieval and Visualization
  • Basic Image Processing Techniques
  • Hands-On Exercise

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to apply GEE for basic remote sensing tasks and export processed imagery for further analysis. This workshop is ideal for beginners looking to start using GEE in environmental monitoring or geospatial analysis.
